Hello, I am planning on applying for fall 2014 to most schools in California ( such as USC, Chapman, Csun, Western, Sdsu etc). I would like to know what my chances are. Here are some of my stats. Thanks in advance!

University:UCLA
Major: psychology
Overall GPA: 3.6 at ucla, 3.75 at community college
GRE: 150 V, 155 Q, 4.5 A

anatomy: A
physio: B
Stats : A
Physics 1 : A
Physics 2: B
Psychology: A ( I was a psych major so i will just fill in all my classes that i got A's in for the schools that need multiple psych classes)
intro bio: A ( only accepted by some schools )

Extra-Curric: vice president psych society, psi chi, crisis hotline counselor, research assistant in psych lab

Volunteer: 130 + hours outpatient

Work experience: gymnastics coach ( 5 years). ABA therapist for kids with autism ( 2 years)

So far, everything looks good. I would definitely rack up some more volunteer/observation hours in different settings/clinics. Also, you don't have to, but if you have the time/money/confidence, you can retake the GRE to bump it up; the scores you have now are slightly above average. Definitely scope out the sticky thread to see where you stand.

You'll get accepted somewhere. Your application is solid. The only weakness is your observation hours. 130+ is enough for outpatient. Now go obtain some experience in a SNF and in a hospital. Get 100+ hours of experience in each of those settings.

Make sure your GRE's are still within the accepted timeframe.

I actually took them twice because i had an anxiety attack the first time around. My scores definitely went up. plus i took them in 2011 and have no time with my pre req courses to go through that again.

glad to see a fellow bruin joining the PT world 🙂

your application looks good! but as everyone else said, try to get a few more hours especially in a variety of settings. this really helps. re-taking your GRE's shouldn't be a top priority unless you have time since they meet the requirement. a few schools don't require GRE's and with a solid GPA it will balance it out.

good luck!

Is there a list on PTCAS for the schools that don't require the GRE? I couldn't find such a list, but maybe i'm looking in the wrong places?

Joe

I don't think there's a list of just schools that don't require the GRE, but if you look at the list of PTCAS GRE codes, some schools don't list any codes at all. These are probably schools that don't require the GRE, and you can confirm by looking at the school websites to see their admission requirements.
