Chances after interview?!

3.5 gpa 31Q MCAT..Within the last month, interviewed at the 3 in-state schools in NJ (Cooper, NJMS, RWJ). What are my chances of getting into AT LEAST 1 of these schools?!! I thought my interviews went pretty well..

Not possible since Cooper doesn't really have stats with regards to how many they will interview and accept.

Without data you can only make random and probably incorrect guesses.

But I'm bored so...if you assume that the other 2 med schools have a similar post interview acceptance rate as RWJ, then your odds of acceptance at each school is 64% (chance of rejection = 36% or 0.36). Which means that the odds that you get rejected at all 3 = 0.36x0.36x0.36 = 4.6% which would suggest that your odds of getting into at least one is about 95.4%.

Reasons why this calculation is wrong

1. We don't have data for 2 of the 3 schools
2. I've assumed that the odds of acceptance for each school is independent. This is wrong. If you get into one school, odds are you will get into the others as well since schools are looking for similar things. Similarly, if you get rejected from one, it is more likely you get rejected from more than one.
 
Since all three schools are in-state, a rejection at one school would actually increase my chances at the other in-state school, right? Since all three schools will be filled with about 90% in-state, they have to enroll students who don't enroll in the other 2 in-state schools.

I'm not exactly sure what you're saying but you can hold multiple acceptances until March without deciding which one school you will attend.

I can't say for sure, but my guess is that if you get rejected from any of the three schools, they won't share this information with the other two. Therefore, when a school is considering your application they won't know whether or not you have been accepted at the other two (or even if you have applied?)

I believe this changes after March. Again, I could be wrong.
 
Just give me a yes or no, whether I will get into one of these. I will give everyone who guesses correctly a $50 gift certificate to Radio Shack
 
Touchu, Catalystik. Here it is: BCPM: 3.3 LOR: anywhere from good to very good. PS: very good Legal Troubles: It's not illegal if they don't catch you (They never caught me). EC: 1 Publication, many many shadowing hours, doing clinical neuroscience research this year at one of those top choice schools, good amount of volunteering, deans list final 3 semesters.

I would argue that it's impossible to give you a guesstimate even with this added information.

The adcom is going to have to get over your crappy BCPM. Do you have an upward grade trend?

Anyway, I don't know what answer is going to satisfy you. There's no possible way to know how well you interviewed either. My advice is to just calm down and wait like everyone else
 
The answer that will satisfy me is "yes." This waiting game is killing me. My BCPM isn't great, but it gets offended when you call it crappy. Also, yes I have the steepest of upward grade trends. Improved every single semester, like a boss

(seriously, though. I sympathize with you... the waiting is also driving me bananas. but no-one here or anywhere else can accurately tell you the odds of getting an acceptance. and even if they could... so what. suppose it's 89% or 54%... will knowing the number make you any less anxious... probably not. at this early stage, even when you know you have a great chance it can be unnerving. so relax.)

Stop complaining about how your others not helping u out. If you're.so keen to know that detail, you do the research and calculation. Sheesh
 
Cmon, man. I used to get beat up because I'm a nerd, why do you have to bring that up? That's actually what my PS was about, overcoming how much I got beat up because I'm such a nerd.

A boss would have had a great GPA every semester.

Anyway, the answer to your question is:

100% chance if you are an engaging interviewee, have great LORs, a great PS, no red flags, etc

0% chance if you are a terrible interviewee, etc., and they find you to be inadmissible

Somewhere between 0% and 100% if you are a good interviewee, they rank you in the middle of the pack for their applicants, and your acceptance hinges on the competitiveness of others. They could find you perfectly admissible but run out of slots for this year, and to be honest, even the admissions committee at these three schools couldn't tell you how things are going to shape up in the end of the cycle

Hence a "0% chance"--->they already decided to reject you at all 3 schools

"100% chance"-->one or more schools decided to admit you

"Somewhere between 0% and 100%"--> you're waitlist material so who knows how the rest of the cycle will turn out

I'd say you have good chance, considering all your schools are in-state. Keep your head up, I'm sure you'll get into at least one of the schools you interviewed at, assuming your interviews went reasonably well.

If you search those school's acceptance or matriculation ratio, you'll have a rough estimate. Go and search that up yourself.
Plus, you finished your interviews already, so all you can do is just sit back and wait. Stop being all neurotic about your chances. I'm anxiously waiting for 10/17 as much as you do, so I understand your feelings, but learn to cope with it man (or gal). Heads up, chin high, be confident, and live your life while waiting for that dreaded, yet revered, email on 10/17 👍
 
I was partially kidding around, but I'm sorry that what I said offended you so much. I wish you the best of luck in your 3rd cycle, I truly hope you get accepted to the school of your choice.
