Hey guys, just wanted to get an accurate idea of my chances at DO this cycle and what schools to target. 23 y/o white male, TN resident. Graduated May '17 from a non-elite undergrad.

-3.69 cumulative GPA, 3.47 science, 3.97 non-science. Bio major.
- 504 MCAT (124/131/125/124) - very unbalanced
- 200 Hours of clinical volunteering
- 30 hours shadowing an ortho
- Worked as a hospital unit clerk in college
- Worked as a retail pharmacy tech in college
- 1 semester of minor research - no pubs or anything important
- 7th Grade Science Teacher at a title I school during my gap year (finished the entire year but not returning)
- Volunteer after-school math tutor this past school year
- Currently working as an ED Scribe now that the school year's over

I don't have any DO shadowing or a DO letter, but I will do my best to get that this summer. I do have a letter from an MD. I know my MCAT is probably the weak point here, but I would really prefer to avoid a retake if my chances are good enough. I am worried that I come off as weak in the sciences since my GPA is lower there and CARS was my MCAT strength.

Not agree with above. Your MCAT is just an avg for some schools. e.g Touro CA accept high MCAT even though your gpa is above avg. Increase your shadowing hours and get DO LOR.

Do not re-take MCAT.

Agree with Goro. DO shouldn't be an issue.
