Just got back my board scores recently and I received a 223 on STEP 1 and a 503 on COMLEX level 1. I know that my Step score puts me at around an 87% chance at matching into EM (as per the matching data that AACOMAS publishes) and that people always say how a better Step score trumps any Comlex score but i still can't help but be worried because my comlex score is pretty low (around 25 percentile I believe). What are my chances at EM? I'm interested in doing an EM residency at a major east coast city like NYC. I'm worried that with the merger, for certain programs i might meet the minimum step 1 score cutoff for their residency program however, I might not meet their comlex level 1 minimum score requirement. Or will most programs just require you to meet one cutoff to apply?
Also out of curiosity, what would be my chances at a gen surg residency? I know I can't be picky with this at all in terms of location but I just wanted to ask because i do have a sliver of an interest in gen surg. However I am definitely 90% leaning towards EM, but still i figure it can't hurt to ask. Thanks in advance for the help!
