Yes, I know, there's a search thread, and even a person who posted with similar stats to me recently. However, my situation is a little different.

Graduated a year and a half ago and did 25 credits of retakes and new upper div science courses.

cGPA: 3.07 Post-bacc cGPA: 3.87
sGPA: 2.87 sGPA: 3.84
MCAT: 30 (10/9/11)

Hundreds of hours of volunteer work, and clinical volunteering. No red flags, or anything of the sort. My app is currently submitted through AACOMAS as I await notification from DO programs.

Shoo in at SGU. What was your post-bacc in? You should be able to get into a USMD with these stats. If this is your first application cycle I would definitely reconsider the Caribbean, even as a backup option, unless you have some other personal reasons for going there.

Thanks. Even though my bottom-line GPAs are still so low (3.07 and 2.87, respectively)? Post-bacc wasn't necessarily 'in' anything. I didn't find myself academically until after I graduated, unfortunately. I'm only applying to SGU because of the solid track record it has as far as Carib schools go. I am also applying to US schools of course, but we'll see how that goes. I like to be realistic, and not assume that I will get in.

Gotcha. I was asking because there are some post-bacc programs specifically for medical schools that grant like a Masters in Physiology or something similar. I think you have a very good chance at getting into a DO program.

Apply broadly and make sure you apply to the new schools that have just opened in the last few years. Also apply to your state schools if its reasonable, as well as the school where you completed your post-bacc. Make sure your AMCAS application is all finished and ready to submit the day it opens (it might have already opened? Can't remember the timeline, been too long).

Good luck.

Yea dont go to SGU with those numbers. Apply to US schools this cycle, and if you don't get in retake your mcat and try again.

Agree. Don't forget to try for DO schools too. They do grade replacement, meaning they'll be more likely to consider your post-bac rather than your undergrad scores.

You'll have a hard time with US Schools, 30 MCAT is not the standard anymore but you will definitely get a DO entrance somewhere.....
