You are competitive for all DO schools and can apply this week. Apply broadly to at least 12 schools and you should receive interviews. Include NYIT-COM.

As an October applicant, am I a competitive candidate for DO school?

Non-trad (mid-20s); white male; NY resident
BA in history from state school
cGPA: 3.74, sGPA: 3.62, post-bacc GPA: 3.89
MCAT: 507 (124/127/126/130)
Currently work in finance (career-changer)
1000+ hours of non-healthcare volunteering (Americorps)
~120 clinical healthcare volunteering hours
~200 research hours (neuroscience lab)
30 shadowing hours (DO)
Four LoRs: Bio profs x 2, sociology prof, and DO letter
No red flags

I just got my MCAT score today, so I will hopefully be able to submit my primaries in the coming week or so. Should I apply now or wait until June of the next cycle? (I'd rather not take an extra gap year, but I will if I have to.)

Thank you!!
You would be a walk in for many DO SCHOOLS!
Hurry up!
