  1. Pre-Health (Field Undecided)
Hello. I have a question about Science GPA calculation for DO schools.
I know we are guided by this classification: AACOMAS Course Subjects
While some classes are straight forward science, some are not so much. They are also much easier. Good examples would be Nutrition, Public Health, Geology, etc. However, it appears that they still fall into science GPA calculation group (called Other Sciences). Do I understand it correctly that basically Public Health class has the same effect on science GPA as Organic Chemistry class? I understand that AdComs may (and will) look further than just the number and analyze it, but in terms of initial filter, is my understanding correct? So, to bump up science GPA one can take easier classes that fall into Other Sciences category?

For cumulative science gpa sure yes, but aacomas will also calculate gpas for individual subjects like chem biochem bio and etc “important” pre-med classes. Which adcoms would also look at like your saying.

Thank you so much for your reply. I was looking at the long list of classes that would pass as science on AACOMAS. They only mention college and science GPA. I figured AdComs would probably look deeper but that's on each individual school, I guess. AACOMAS does not seem to talk about individual subjects GPA (unless I missed it).

Wow. Thank you for your reply!
