Hey guys, hope yall are doing well. Just wanted to get some insight on my chances of matching into Anesthesia. Currently a 3rd year DO student. Passed Level 1 first attempt, did not take Step 1. Passed Level 2 first attempt, got a 245 Step 2. Honored all but 2 clinical rotations. Have some research but no publications. Decent volunteer experience. Good LORs and applying very broadly to DO friendly programs. Any insight would be helpful. Thank you guys!
You have a 60 to 64% chance in matching anesthesiology based on your S2 score. The average S2 score in 2024 was 249. You will need to apply strategically to at least 70 programs. Not sure how the S1 filter will effect you. I think you will match anesthesiology, especially if you are under represented.
If you think you can study for and pass step 1 before submission time then you should. That’s a good s2 and there will be programs that filter you for missing a s1. If you don’t think you can then let it rock
