Chances for psych

Hey Guys
I'm in the middle of my third year and have decided to pursue psychiatry as my residency. I wanted to know if I have a decent shot in the northeast with a comlex of less than 450 and how many programs to apply to. Thanks

Apply to programs that have DOs in proportion to the DO population. Do auditions at your top few places, know your stuff, be personable, make friends with residents.

Do audition rotations at places you wish to match in the north east and set them up now. It will be tough in that area under 450 but if you do well on auditions at lower tier places they will interview you. Apply broadly, 60ish places should do it, so that you have backup if NE doesn't work out but you have a shot.

All in all, your chances will be better in the Midwest.
