Hi,
I am an IMG. Applying for Neurology residency in 2008 Match. My credential are:
Year of graduation: 2000
Since 2002, I am pursuing my research in Neuroscience in USA.
USMLE scores: 95/94/84 (All first attempt)
ECFMG certified.
As I am an old graduate, I am very much worried about my chances of getting into resiency. PLEASE EVALUATE MY CHANCES.
Your reply will be highly appreciated.

Hi! we have a similar profile (athough Im a recent graduate ad no step 3) and I'm going for 2008 matching too. As you probably heard a million times, no one can really tell you if you're competitive enough other than the program director of the particular hospital you are applying to. I'm scared as hell too. People advise me to go for categorical IM but my heart's really in neurology so I'm going for it. So I guess that's my sort-of answer to you...someone with a similar profile as yours, no US clinical experience (actually, it's the first time I have been here!), fresh from medical school, no journal publications, no MS/MA, just a stubborn will and a supportive family; that someone is giving it a shot : ) I'm actually burning the phonelines looking for programs. Do you know which programs allow you to apply without an ECFMG certificate at the time of application? Good luck to us!
p.s.
how did you apply for step 3? and is it really answerable without going through residency first? thanks : )
