Hello All,

I go to small, private college in Illinois where I was able to get all A's my freshmen year. Through summer school, I will be able to fulfill all my requirements as an undergraduate in three years. I'm going to take the MCAT the summer of my sophomore year, and hope to apply to medical school during that same summer. I volunteer for about 4 hours a week at the hospital and do ecology research in a lab.The research is not anything too spectacular but it's still research. This summer, I'm working in the same research lab and shadowing a few physicians. During my sophomore year, I hope to continue doing research and volunteering again.

Do any of you have any advice or tips that I should be aware of if I have the intention of applying a year early? Any problems that you could see arising from this? Lastly, do you think I am doing enough? Anything at all would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Don't forget to get in a leadership experience. You'll be held to the same standard of the expected extracurriculars as someone who has a full three years to develop them. You seem on target for the rest of them.

You'll want to take the MCAT as early in summer (late spring would be better) as possible so your application won't be "late" thus disadvantaging you when fewer interview spots are left to offer you.
