Hi,

I'm a Cornell undergrad with the following individual MCAT scores:
9 PS
9 BS
11 VR

I'm really confused whether I should bother applying this cycle or not. I would love to go to UMass Medical School (Mass resident), but below is a list of my additional schools. I have been continuously involved in research since freshman year, presented posters at college conferences.

I have relevant global health experience having volunteered in a tribal hospital in India and having done an internship in the Global Health Department at Weill Cornell Medical College. Strong leadership in EC, RA, and TA for Human Anatomy and Physiology. I am originally from India but raised outside of Boston and am a US citizen.

Please, I would really appreciate any insight any of you may have on what I should be doing. I feel really disappointed about the MCAT Score.

List of Schools:
UMass
Univ. Vermont
UConn
Maryland
Penn State
Univ. Arizona

Temple
Virgina Commonwealth
George Washington
Albany
Toledo
Case Western
Marshall
Medical College of Wisconsin

Thoughts??

Good GPA but weak MCAT for MD; strong for DO. Can't really tell how strong your ECs are without more details (hours/duration? tasks you did?).

If you're happy with DO, apply this cycle. Otherwise wait until you bring your MCAT score above a 30. You still have a chance at MD this cycle, but the MCAT looks pretty borderline...

You have a shot at MD but you should definitely apply to more low tier MD schools---at least 5+ more. You will have no problem to get into DO.

Do you have any suggestions as to low-tier schools? Are there any I should be eliminating from my current list?

You should get your hands on the MSAR to find low tier schools that are OOS friendly...
