Hi! I am planning on applying this cycle for Fall 2019 admission and just wanted to get some opinions on where I stand.
I am going to be a senior at Ohio State with a cumulative GPA of a 3.32 and a 340 (82nd percentile) on the OAT. I retook Organic Chemistry I, which replaced a C- with a B, and scored a 380 (94th percentile) on that section on the OAT. Most of my grades are in the A to B range, with three C+s, Biochem, Physiology, and Honors General Chemistry I.
Extracurricular-wise, I have volunteered at a local hospital for 2 years now (around 75 hours total) and I have worked for an optometrist since March and have around 150 hours as an optometric technician. I've briefly shadowed another local optometrist in a different setting as well. I work in a Cognitive Development Lab and have been there for 2 years. I have also been a part of an Indian dance team on campus for the past 2 years, and as of recently, I hold a leadership position for this group.
My letters of recommendation are coming from the optometrist that I work for, the RA from my research lab, and my organic chemistry professor, so they should be strong.
My top choices are: The Ohio State University College of Optometry, Illinois College of Optometry, Midwestern University (Chicago) College of Optometry, NECO, and Michigan College of Optometry
Thank you in advance for your advice!
