Ok, so I wanted to post my stats and see how what you all think about my chances?? Like if you have similar stats and did/did not get in in the past or know people, etc. I am applying to Mizzou IS and really hope I can get in this year!

B.S. Biology, minor Chemistry--played Division I tennis all 4 years of college
Cum GPA: 3.45
Last 45 GPA: 3.5
MCAT: 28
60 Hours Equine vet exp
50 hours food animal vet exp
Will have 1900 SA vet tech exp
I know my GPA is low and I could probably use some more LA experience...but what do you think about my chances?? Be honest! 🙂

I'm gonna have to second what cowgirla said. No one here knows their own chances, let alone anyone else's. Sometimes the best you can do is cross your fingers and pray for an interview.

Like others have said no one can really tell you what your chances are. Our average class stats are pretty high. Average GPA is ~3.8, just a hair under if I remember correctly. Mizzou does usually put a high emphasis on the GPA but there are always exceptions to the rule (like me for instance!). I think our average experience hours were b/t 1-2K but most of us had much more than that.

I was in state and had no where near a 3.8 and got in my first try but I know other in state kids that had 4.0's and similar experience to me and got rejected so I really have no idea what causes them to choose one person over another. I think my interview and essays were pretty important for my acceptance and possibly my work experience (I graduated a semester early and got to work in the real world for a while outside the veterinary field). In the end who knows though...I'm still somewhat convinced they draw names out of a hat.

Good luck! I love Mizzou so far...despite the super tough anatomy exam we had yesterday 😉.

I've applied twice, the first time getting waitlist #3, and the second time (although my application was much, much better) not even making waitlist. My GPA is around 3.5. So yeah, I'm going with the names out of a hat.

ETA: Forgot, I have around 500 hours, exotic + SA + equine, and a few food animal. I know (for some reason) that being a vet tech can actually hurt your application... don't ask me why.

Where did you apply Mohorsegirl? And yeah technically my job is called vet tech, but really im just an assistant, not an RVT or anything. maybe I should change it to assistant though on my app!

And yeah I know no one can tell me if ill get in or not, im just curious how people with similar stats to mine have been faring. Thanks for all your input!

Ooh ok are you IS? I assume yes because of your username? Are you applying again this year?

Did you take the GRE? It is required for most if not all schools.

Your stats seem otherwise competitive. From there, it's a crapshoot. Your chances may hinge on your interview, personal statement, and LORs. If those are excellent, your chances are probably pretty good. If those are mediocre or worse, you probably will not be accepted. But it's anybody's guess.
