chances of getting into anesthesia from a respectable DO school as an international student?

a little background on myself,

i am a canadian student witha 3.97 gpa, 509 mcat, good ECs (research, clinical, non clinical, leadership, etc etc - i can elaborate more on what they are if needed).

Basically, to keep a long story short, i am now heavily considering applying to DO schools, but i have two questions

given that i get accepted to a solid DO school with lots of research opportunities:

1. how hard is it to match to anesthesiology granted that my stats are some what above avg for a DOs who match to anesthesia - given that i am also an international student
2. if i dont match to anesthesiology, is it possible to match to family medicine? Or am i just doomed to remain unmatched?

*also from my understanding is that its harder to match in some programs than others - assume that i have no prefrences and will apply to the least competitive programs

applying and committing to DO is a lengthy and expensive process so i would truly appreciate any answers
thanks

There is no such thing as a respectable DO school in the context of residency apps (surely I’m not saying medical school isn’t respectable) since they’re all seen the same by and large according to program directors

ya i am using that termy very, very loosely

i generally just mean ones that are not for profit, and have a lot of resources allocated to them, ie research, good match list, faculty support etc

To answer your question,

Anesthesia is becoming more competitive but it’s still doable for DOs who do well. If you don’t match you can definitely match FM assuming no glaring red flags such as multiple board failures

You asked this already and received an answer:
