What should I do?? I will be taking the Jan MCAT and I really had put a lot of time studying EK/KAPLAN prep course materials. On practice exams Kaplan full length, I scored 35 or so this year (last year.. in the teens 28ish), but i did not time myself because I wanted to make sure that i know how to tackle these problems first. As for the verbal, oftentimes I managed to eliminate and left with 2 choices, and 100% of the time i would choose the wrong one!!... what is wrong with me............? I always choose the one that sounds the best to me.. and ended up... getting it wrong =(... please... help. I am an extremely diligent person...if there is any methods to improve verbal, or even other sections.. please tell me....

I will try to fill out the application online now. But I still have not shadowed a DPM yet, should i still submit it? also, and i think it has been asked in another thread but not sure where it is, how will i send LORs to the schools (how many LORs ) ? sorry for being ignorant I was a pre-DO but decided to go into podiatry.

Well..in a year your score went down by 1 point. Which means you didn't prepare thoroughly. Your chances of getting in somewhere (Barry and Kent State being most probable) this cycle are still good if you apply early though.

Your reading section isn't terrible.. a 7/8 isn't going to alarm anyone in Podiatry admissions. I would focus on what is your weakest section though.. the PS. That's the easiest section to improve anyway, just do practice problems and relearn material.

Anywho if your goal is to just gain acceptance ANYWHERE then you are fine and don't need to retake the MCAT.

actually the first score is not VB,but PS. VB/PS/BS... sorry if i confused anyone. I will have a retake in January, but for the time being I will apply and see if podiatry school will still grant me an interview.

I guess I will get everything rather so i can submit the application, and hope that my MCAT will score much higher this time around. =(

I have been fascinated with medicine, the human body. I would be happy to even become a physical therapist, as it is considered a health profession. I just wanted to join the crew join and contribute to the society. Yes, I am not have done well on the MCAT and that cost me my chances in D.O/M.D. But that does not matter, i believe podiatry can satisfy my curiosity and thirst for knowledge. =))

any more feedbacks?? i will be applying in november, after shadowing and all. I will be retaking the MCAT in January, but will they still give me a chance for an interview before then ?

My suggestion would be to call the schools. The admission reps are super nice and they will give you the 100% correct answer.

I think your chances are best at the biggest schools (NY,KENT,TMEPLE,SCHOLL) because you will not be able to be accepted until February (if based on outcome of Jan scores). the smaller classes(MIDWESTERN, WESTERN, DMU) will be filling up fast, so if that is your plan, you may want to reevaluate your strategy. get as much POD specific stuff as you can.

i do want to get into (NY,KENT,TMEPLE,SCHOLL). I am shadowing a podiatrist now. I plan on shadowing 2-3 more.

However, I will probably apply and have my application submit soon.

I applied to 5 schools and i have my first interview at Scholl in October and a second one at Samuel Merritt. I submitted my application without my MCAT score. I get my score back October 9th I think. I called Scholl and Samuel Merritt to see what would happen if i find out my MCAT score is too low and whether or not I should Interview with them anyway. They said to go ahead and interview and if my score is low, they will put my application on hold.🙂

THANK Q sandie. I am trying to submit as early as possible. Still working on my personal statement

Sorry to bother. So I have gotten 5 invitations for interviews so far. I was wondering if any of you would think they would put me on hold with my current MCAT ? I am not saying I will not be working my butt off for the Jan MCAT. I just wanted to feel "secure" that at least one of them would accept me, after the interview, and assuming i do not screw them up.

🙁🙁🙁🙁🙁🙁🙁

interviews from:
temple/kent/DMU/ BARRY (FLORIDA)/ CALIFORNIA

i am hoping that NYCPM will offer me an interview T-T... still waiting (they said they were reviewing my application yesterday)

Thanks for the update! I have similar scores and sent my app in last week. I am waiting for my GPA to be calculated and will hopefully start hearing from schools.

OK, Can someone tell me if any of the schools would accept me with my current stats because I have a few interviews coming up. AGAIN, I will be taking the January MCAT but I want to make sure that at least one of the schools would accept me before then.

my first interview would be at NYCPM first week of november.
2nd interview at temple
third kent state
fourth barry
fifth DMU
sixth California...............:scared::scared::scared::scared::scared::scared::scared::scared::scared::scared::scared:

I really want to see if I can get into either NYCPM/ TEMPLE.

please provide me with some feedbacks!!

I am still shadowing with a podiatrist, and i will probably be shadowing for 6 months+ because I really like the stress-free environment and I really learned a lot so far.....

Gee you sure like to go crazy with emotes/faces.

Here's my opinion which have usually been accurate:

Dmu waitlisted.

Kent and Barry accepted.

Temple and NYCPM- toss-up between accepted and waitlisted.

Cali- don't know a thing about west coast schools

so, regardless of how i do on the interviews, it'll either be accepted/waitlisted from NYCPM/temple?? ... sigh. thanks

if i were you i would just focus on studying for the MCAT. personally i knew that I would not do well on physical science section since my physics and chemistry is weak, so i just focused mainly on bio and verbal. I got a 26. I used the exam cracker books, there not as in depth as others but for the purposes of getting a good score for podiatry school it should suffice. I did some problems from ochem, physics, and g chem exam crackers 1001 questions. but i literally did only a quarter to half of the problems from each book because my fundamentals are too weak. do lots of verbal 🙂 and study what you are strong at and dont waste your time trying to master everything. that just my 2 cents

also do a lot of the aamc online practice test. i did 7-11 and they were pretty accurate of my real score. for verbal i used Berkeley review verbal and exam crackers 101 passages. i didnt used princeton hyperlearning because it was too expensive. after doing both books and timing myself it drastically improved my score. good luck with your studies

i have a 3.2 cum and science gpa and so far i have gotten interview invites from all 8 of the 9 schools except AZPOD. i am still waiting

U should get into all of the schools. Just a question of scholarship.

I disagree. Especially since the OP retook the mcat and had a score decrease. There are several ppl on these forums alone with similar stats that have been waitlisted at certain schools.
