Hi everyone, I'm currently a sophomore Biochemistry B.S. at USC. My overall GPA is 3.5 and my science GPA is 3.47. I'm interning at a hospital (4 hours a week, started a 2 months ago and will continue until graduation) and just started research (around 8 hours a week and will also continue until graduation). Realistically, what are my chances of getting into any of the CA dental schools, other than Loma Linda, with a resume like such? (assuming maintaining current GPA)

The thing that is worrying me is that I have a B- in one of my general bio courses and I feel that my GPA is only average. What suggestions do you guys have for me? What kind of GPA should I be aiming for?

Also, another opportunity I'm looking into is a tutoring program of USC for neighboring high schools. How necessary do you think it is that I take this opportunity? Thank you all!

Hard to judge your chances. Prepare thoroughly for the DAT, as I'm assuming you haven't taken it yet. Also, as far as the tutoring opportunity, do it because you'll enjoy it, not because it may help on DS applications. Quality rather than quantity. Volunteer at a few places that mean a lot to you rather than volunteer half-ass at a lot of places.

Is your internship with an OMFS at a hospital? Dental research at the hospital?

my internship is at a medical hospital just for the hospital in general and the research is for a molecular biology professor at USC..is it useless if it is non-dentistry related?

also, with my gpa, it is around the average for the entering classes..what is a good gpa to be safe? thanks
