I am a current junior and am planning on taking a gap year before applying.

Expected States at end of senior year:
cgpa 3.68
sgpa 3.6
MCAT: 523

double major in biology (bs) and athletic training (ba) w/ chem minor
> 1000 hrs athletic training clinical hours
250 hrs clinical experience nonprofit hospital abroad - helped collect data for research
leadership position in an organization ive been in for 4 years
senior marshall
1 yr research - publication expected
chemistry mentor 3 semestors and 1 semestor chem lab TA; 1 semestor bio class TA
special olympics volunteer - 200 hrs
non-clinical or medical volunteer position- 150 hrs
non-clinical or medical volunteer position- 75 hrs
clinical/clerical position at eye clinic - 250 hrs
emt-b certified
shadowed family practice physician and surgical physician

what are my chances if i apply at the end of senior year? could I apply to mid-top tier schools?

I am planning on doing a gap year involving a mix of clinical and research experience and hope to knock out a few more publications.

I don't think athletic training counts as "clinical" hours.

Patient is a subjective term. Clinical hours tend to be counted at an actual hospital with doctors. If it did count, most premeds would go athletic training for the stat pad. Its def not bad, but I don't think its worth as much as being in a hospital and interacting with doctors.

Even if it doesn't count, I will probably have a combined total of 450 clinical hours with my experience abroad and the eye clinic. I also hope to be gaining clinical experience during my gap year. If i cant use athletic training as clinical experience, I will at least use it to talk about my experience communicating with patients/athletes, doctors, and other healthcare professionals.
