Hey y'all,
Thanks in advance if you read my story. My mom is colombian and her grandparents were black. My dad is from egypt. I have put hispanic on all of my transcripts since high school and I am nervous about suddenly "choosing to be black" on my apps. Is that a bad look? I am pretty involved in both communities, I volunteer for my schools department of diversity affairs.
I am also the multicultural affairs director for the inter fraternity council , and I am running for a position in student government relating to multiculturalism.
My uGPA is a 3.3 with a strong upward trend. I haven't taken the mcat but i was ranging in the 27 on the practices. I have a couple Ws on my transcripts as well (about 5.) I just finished my first semester of my masters in microbiology classes and i have a 3.9. i have no research but i am looking to do some. chances i get in somewhere for the next cycle?

Why not identify as Hispanic? I'm a little confused about that.

Also, are you applying this upcoming cycle? If so, when do you plan to take the MCAT?

Funny enough, Egyptian is actually considered white.

What do you identify as? The last thing ADComs want is applicants checking off a box just because it will make them more attractive. Whatever you mark on your application is fair game come interview time.
