Hey, everyone!

So, I need a realistic assessment of my chances for MD schools. Here's the breakdown (Note: I haven't taken the MCAT yet, and I'm set to take it in June). Another note: my ultimate goal is to get an MD/MPH.

Overall GPA: 3.909
BCPM GPA: 3.973
Major: Public Health
Minor: Chemistry

Volunteer Experience: 2 years at a local children's hospital doing rounds/observing/helping the kids

Shadowing Experience: some (not sure how many hours, as I didn't keep track; but I spent one summer shadowing a number of doctors)

Research Experience: 320 hours (8 weeks; 40 hours/week) at the CDC performing DNA analysis on a parasite that causes eosinophilic meningitis in humans

Leadership: Girl Scout Gold Award Recipient (2014)
Public Health Club: Treasurer (2014-2015), Co-President (2015-2016); President (2016-present)
I also received a leadership scholar award this past year, and hope to continue the program this year (you have to re-apply every year).
Mortar Board inductee (Spring 2016); Offered position of Treasurer for next year

This summer, I'm also going to work at the International Rescue Committee this summer working on a proposal for the development of a community health promoter that focuses on disseminating health information for refugees (including researching the ways in which the best methods can be used to provide home-based health education).

Also, this summer, I'm attending a training on bioinformatics, and training a TA next year in the subject.

Thoughts? Let me know if I need to include anything else (there are other things that I haven't included).

I should probably add that I'm also a tutor at my college's writing center (10 hours/week).

If your MCAT score is at least 508 you should receive several interviews assuming you apply broadly and choose schools appropriate for your stats. Where is your state of residence and and which schools do you intend to apply to?

It is impossible to tell you what your chances are until you get back your MCAT score. Are you applying this year? If so, submit one primary application with all of your transcripts to get verified early, then purchase the MSAR. Once you get your MCAT score back, apply to schools where you are at or above the median GPA and MCAT-wise, and then come back to us and we'll be able to help you put together a school list.
