Hi All,

I'm a Canadian applicant and applied really late in the cycle. ie. submitted AADSAS mid-January, and am now just sending off the last of my supplementary apps. My GPA is alright (overall 3.4, science 3.27) and my Canadian DATs range 17-20.

Could let me know roughly what my chances are at the schools I applied for? I know very little about American school admissions.

So far I have been invited for interviews at:
- BU (mid-March)
- NYU (late-March)
(what are my chances after interview?)

Still waiting to hear about interviews from:
- Creighton
- Detroit Mercy
- U Buffalo
- Meharry
- Marquette
- Nova Southeastern
- UPenn
- Howard
- West Virginia

Any insight would be much appreciated!

Thank you 🙂
Carmen

Hi Carmen,

I'm Canadian as well and applied in mid october. Thus far I've only received interviews from BU, NYU, Temple and Tufts, but have been subsequently accepted by BU (still waiting for the others). Anyways, my stats are similar to yours so i dont think you should have any concerns with that. Being a late applicant for NYU and BU isnt that bad as they are really expensive private schools, so their classes won't fill up as quickly as the other less expensive schools.
Apparently, from reading other posts, NYU interviews 1000 and offers 850 accepetances. I don't know if this is true, but once you're interviewed, chances are you'll get in. Good luck.

I would say your chances are fair considering you applied so late. If you had applied earlier, I prolly would have thought you had a good chance. I'm not sure about this, but as I understand your post, you got a 17 academic and 20 perceptual ability (or carving?). I would recommend trying for a better academic score if you do end up reapplying next year.

I am not on an adcomm, however, this is just my opinion. Also, I have no idea if Canadian DAT scores are treated as the equivalent of US scores. It sounds as if you've chosen a likely list of schools, though and I wish you the best of luck. 🙂
