Hey SDNers!
I'd like to run a question by yall if that's possible.
What are my chances of getting into med school with a 3.6gpa overrall and a 32MCAT? I know there are more things to base admissions on, such as personality...dedication...well-roundedness. But if you were to look at those scores, what are the chances for an allopathic/osteopathic acceptance?
Thanks guys,
By the way, congrats to all who got accepted,
and those that haven't yet, keep on keeping on...

The Captain was here...CaptainMonkey that is.

Generally speaking, your chances are very good, as long as you apply to a wide range of schools and get your application in early.

I think you got a pretty good chance....then again, 4.0s with 35+ mcat get rejected very often. It has more to do with YOU then with your memorization skills.

Thanks guys, that helped. I agree with the memorization skills part...anyone can memorize. I'm just hoping they can see beyond scores and can actually understand a candidate and how he has been shaped through experiences/academics...not just a score.

Yall take it easy now, ya' hear?

I am more interested in these chances, you see, I was driving my car Violet the other day and the wheel fell off. There was this loud rattling noise and then all wne still and it fell off. Then just a few weeks ago, I was driving my dad's car, which he harly ever lets me drive. because he said i will hurt it and he never gets anythiung that is just his, wah wah. ANd the bumper fell of in downtown Pittsburgh!

So what are the chances that
a. i will have a vehicle in the near futre that keeps all of its pieces
b. if a is not met, what piece will fall off next

I agree with Allygator on a). 1 out of 781

However for b), I predict a 5 out of 3457892 chance the steering wheel, 3 out of 27583028 the upholstery from the passenger side seat will miraculously slough off, and 1 out of 59692738 chance that the entire bottom of your car will fall out, leaving you with a highly desirable Flintstone model.

CaptainMonkey, stats are extremely variable. Better stats may give you a more solid application, but so many other factors are important and schools are looking for so many different things that it's impossible to give you a concrete answer.

...you guys are awfully generous...

...this would be funny. this happened to my father once while driving his tractor. it was rather unerving for him to say the least, as he was mowing a hayfiled at the time.
3 out of 27583028 the upholstery from the passenger side seat will miraculously slough off,
dude, how would this be miraculous? it would on ly be miraculous if it sloughed up and started to do a dance routine and bring about world peace. and

LMAO

I was envisioning you driving along in your car, looking over at your passenger seat and suddenly the upholstery would come off like a snake shedding its skin.

But I like the dancing idea. It will bring about world peace while singing the Barney song. Excellent.

btw, that sounds like an awfully scary tractor your dad had.
