Hey guys.

I was just wondering what my chances may be at Temple, Scholl, and DMU with my stats. I currently have have a cGPA of 3.82 and a science gpa around 3.85. Now I know these gpa's are higher than the averages but the MCAT score was only a 20 due to something explainable during interviews. I plan to apply as soon as the cycle opens. Lots of Shadow experience and great letters of recommendation were written.

your good in my opinion. but yeah they are probably going to ask you how someone with such a high GPA got such a low MCAT score. If you retake it and get a better score you will probably be offered a nice scholarship if you don't get offered one already.

Thank you for the words of encouragement. Do you think it's possible they would give me a conditional acceptance with a higher mcat score needed? Or is that not really the norm at all? Thanks again in advance guys!

PS: I attended Virginia Commonwealth University as a Bio major.

Honestly, I think you will get in anywhere you apply if you apply early.

i doubt they will give you a conditional acceptance with your high GPA. They will just accept you 👍

You'll definitely get interviews at all the schools you apply to.

Are you sure you don't want to retake the MCAT? You could get $5k+ in scholarships

It's not so much that i'm adversed to the idea of retaking, but if I do, won't I have to wait longer in the cycle to apply? Or you mean go ahead and let them know I would be retaking it and apply aug 1st still. From what I gathered on these forums I thought most schools didn't reopen your app after the interview.

I'm a bit delayed in this conversation but I think that you have a good chance of getting interviews to numerous schools. I'm thinking they might ask about the discrepancy between your MCAT and GPA, so if you prepare an answer for that you should be perfect! Good luck 🙂 I hope you get into your top choices 🙂

I was in the same boat you were in and I got offered four interviews and accepted into Scholl. You should be totally fine, but like trinifootdoc said, apply EARLY..Good luck!

I doubt anyone cares but I figured I would update my situation. I contacted Scholl, Temple, and DMU questioning whether or not retaking the MCAT after the application is sent will cause admission issues. They all said no and interview invites will be sent out normally, but if I want to retake the MCAT for scholarship consideration later on in the cycle that would be fine. On that note, I am rescheduled to take the beast again September 1st bleh. Hopefully by early October I'll know where I'm going 🙂!
