Changing from surgery to psych for residency, need advice

Hi everyone! I'm a 3rd year MD student at a mid-tier institution. Did my undergrad in psychology and some research there as well. Originally, I was deciding between surgery and psych, and geared my application towards surgery. After completing both rotations, I realized that I love psych a a lot more and it aligns more with the professional/personal trajectory I see for myself. I need some advice on how to change up my application/make it more competitive for (ideally) academic psychiatry programs given I have about a year until I have to submit ERAS.
