Originally, I was scheduled for an interview on 10/6, which i then emailed and changed to 9/29.

I just found out today that UW dental school is doing its bi-annual trip to an underserved community in southern washington. I am invited as one of only two pre-dental students accompanying UW dental students and staff (I did it earlier this year and they invited me back to do it again). The problem is that this trip is on 9/29!!

I loved this amazing experience last time and it was fun getting to know more staff and students at UW (this may or may not help my chances if I get an interview at UW).

Would it be a bad idea to call and reschedule my interview AGAIN? I don't want to seem like I am needy rescheduling an interview twice, but this trip is something i really want to do....

WHAT SHOULD I DO???

so, my understanding is that you're doing this to strengthen your app even more....even though you already have an interview?

priorities bud. this interview takes precedence, in my opinion. whether or not this makes a difference for UW is another thing..but still, why purposely shoot yourself in the foot if you have a potential acceptance within your grasp? beggars can't be choosers. good luck to you with whatever it is you decide.

I completely understand what you guys are saying, and please don't get the wrong idea of where my priorities are set. I have been thinking about this interview since i got it and am really excited for it. I don't want to go to this trip because I don't think my app is good enough and I want to be an overachiever, I want to go because it is genuinely a great experience helping people down there and it a great way to know more people at my state school.

I have pretty low stats compared to others and I feel so fortunate to have an interview, especially at this point in the game. Seriously, this is my main priority, I am genuinely grateful for the interview.

I guess I just don't see the harm in asking them to push it back a week, I'm not saying that I am going to cancel the interview. Do you guys really think that it would come across as rude to change it for a second time? That obviously is the last thing I would want to do

I don't think it's necessarily rude but I feel like they will take note of it and not for a good reason. I wouldn't move it.

Would it just come across as I am prioritizing UW over them?

I would stick with keeping the interview since it had already been rescheduled. If you ask to reschedule again, they might take note of that and feel that you're putting other things first/not taking them as seriously. Just my two cents though, best of luck!

Dont reschedule

they would def. make note of rescheduling again again

it might show your priority is on somewhere else

i suggest you go to the interview on the scheduled time

RSalha, I understand your dilemma because UW is your top choice. Any edge you can get on UW may help. It is a tough situation. It may be worth your while to go to the trip with UW and reschedule the interview. Especially if people in UW adcoms remember you. I would call Western and ask if it is too much trouble to reschedule again and say there is an unforeseen conflict. Anything you can do to get UW to notice you will only help.

See this is the way I see it, I know for sure two of the dentists that do interviews at UW will be on this trip...

I'm going to my interview on the 29th. Thank you for the input, have an amazing day.
