Changing residency from VA to MD

I'm thinking of going to UMD for the class of 2024 over my state school VCU. Does anyone have experience in changing residency from VA to MD to get that in-state scholarship after D1? I know the standard steps: license, car registration, voting registration, housing, community involvement, etc. But, I've heard its much harder to change residency from VA to MD since we're only a border away from each other.

Any input will help even if it's not about VA/MD.

I've heard it is much easier to get instate tuition to UMD compared to most dental schools. I know of a few people that have done this. I would suggest reaching out to current UMD students through their facebook group or even visit the school. I believe this is a fairly common question for UMD students so it shouldn't be too hard to find a definitive answer. Best of luck!
