I am looking into Chapman University's Post Bacc program - having completed my degree 2 years ago (to the day 🙂 ) I have positioned myself to where I can enroll in a post-bacc program, and finally get things under way.

My history - Bsc Honors at 19 (in business - no pre-reqs), 2 years work experience, extensive travel, volunteer work mostly working with hearing impaired, and mentally/physically disabled people - unfortunately none in a hospital.

I am very excited about their program - not only is it local, but I have heard very positive things from friends of mine who are current undergrads there. Has anyone else investigated or attended it? What are your thoughts? Does anyone know what their admissions committee looks for?

Any input would be great - I am currently waiting for my transcript, and LORs from the UK, and then off to the post office to send my application.

I am currently in Chapman's pre health post bacc and would be more than happy to answer any of your questions. I just started my second year and all I can tell you is that I am VERY happy with this school. Like any other program, there are pros and cons.

Pros: inexpensive for private school education
Priority registration
Small classes
High quality education
Small campus
Beautiful campus
High quality of life
Program director is admin to UCI med and she helps with Everything!

Cons: calc based physics only
Limited class schedule
Semester system

In order to offset the physics requirement I actually opted to take trigonometry based physics at a nearby JC. Since it is a small semester based school, some classes are only offered fall or spring only. Ex. Bio1, gchem 1, ochem 1, and physics 1 are only offered fall. But it's really not that bad because everything falls into place perfectly considering that many of the post backs that enroll have 0-minimal science background. And from what I've heard and seen, people going through this program have high success gaining admission. The school is high quality just not as publicized or as we'll known as scripps for example.
