Anyone doing chart reviews for an IRO?
Curious to learn about experiences, compensation, etc
Thank you

I have done this in the past. The compensation is pretty poor and there is some, but very little wiggle room to negotiate. I normally only take on cases that are suspected to go to court as I charge my full expert witness fees for the court preparation and testimony but the actual review and report writing is capped by the IRO. For psychiatry it is typically $100-150/hr for this work and in the beginning it will probably take you more time so even less money. This is about 1/3 or less of what I otherwise charge for my time so not worth it for me. Most companies expect board certification and 3-5 years post-residency experience. You cannot rely on a steady stream of income, and if you wanted this to be something that provided a decent chunk you need to sign up with multiple organizations, accept everything (if you decline things, you probably won't be offered anything else), and be cheap. Unfortunately there are enough people who don't know their worth which depresses the rates.
