Quick background: I'm army HPSP c/o 2026, doing a snowbird year after graduation before starting an army residency. I have been told I'll go to one base for my snowbird year before moving to the base for residency. Expecting to do a lot of direct restorative and straightforward stuff during snowbird year, but we will see.
Question about the nuts and bolts of doing army dentistry: How does charting and EHR work? What software is used? Is there much flexibility in how you write chart notes, and can you use your own chart note templates for different appointments?
I have been collecting and fine tuning template notes for a host of different appointments (limited exam, comp exam, periodic exam, simple/surgical exos, composite resto, crown appts, etc.) during dental school. It helps me clarify what I want to accomplish and how I want to chart for my procedures. Will I have an opportunity to use these templates in whatever clinic I am placed?
