I think Saba is less - around $70K. Also one of the Big-4.

SGU is pretty cheap.

I was in the same situation, looking for a decent yet financially sound caribbean school. I found The American University of Antigua. Same system as ROSS. I think the president and deans are ex-ROSS deans. It is fairly new and recognized in the US even in CA and NY.
$8,500/semester and they integrate hospital exposure the first year.
Antigua is also a relaxing place to study in for 16 months.

Basic and Clinical Education
Lincensure

I've run into student from many other caribbean schools who can't take a history or perform a physical exam correctly. Many haven't taken and many more have taken and failed the step 1 exam multiple times and are still in there clinicals.

When did AUA get California approval? That woudl put it on a par with SGU, Ross, AUC and Saba and a leg up on schools like SMU...

I hope you are not kidding yourself. The AUA was chartered in 2004. Yes it's true that their dean Dr.G worked at SGU and ROSS before. I think he was fired from one or the other. I remember that in Sept 2004 he flew to Dominica from Antigua for an "information dinner". I was there with many of my classmates. It turned out to be an all-out recruiting event with a lot of false promices. 🙄 Some of my classmates who were failing at ROSS signed up, and transfered over there (mind you in early October 😱,almost four weeks into the semester). Anyway, they don't have good rotations in U.S, just some hospital in GA. Their financial aid is also shady at best. They have "twinning" program with Kasturba med school in Indinia. But I heard it's not recognized (Kasturba is, but AUA is not). If you've got the GPA at least above 2. 5, I'd look elswere.
i.e MUA. If your grades are alrigt then SGU,ROSS,AUC,SABA,SMU.

So anything new since 2006 on cheap caribbean schools?
I'm in quite a pickle right now and would prefer a cheap school that I can afford rather than wait longer. I simply might not be able to get loans so a cheap med school is better than nothing. i know my abilities and i'm not afraid of going to a more modest place.. i can study.
if some people can recommend schools that are a bit on the cheaper side that would be great..

AUA is not recognized by CA...but it's working on it. AUA is fairly priced...it's about the same as Howard University...moderate medical school, high medical school...doesn't matter as long as you can do the work and actually graduate...if you believe you can, then going anywhere will let you shine above your classmates..
OP, if UD MD/DO school is not an option, try the "big 4" Carib schools first: SGU, AUC, Ross, and Saba. Their grads are eligible to be licensed in all 50 states. Of these schools, SGU is the most expensive, and Saba is the least.
The other (non-big 4) schools mentioned in this thread (AUA, SMU, MUA) may be decent schools, but they are not approved by California (unfairly, in my opinion). Because other states follow the California list, these schools' graduates cannot be licensed in roughly 10-15 states. You should only attend these and other non-big 4 schools if you cannot get into the big 4.
