I've been accepted to NYU and Nova and am trying to decide which to go to. I like both schools but I've been told by at least three dentist to go to the cheaper school. I would be saving at least 100,000 K over four years if I were to attend Nova, but NYU is a better school and has a better reputation....what iz i gonna do

I would appreciate your opinionz

The fact that I have never heard from anybody that NYU is better then Nova and the fact that I've only heard good things about Nova makes me question the reality, according to you, that NYU is indeed better then Nova. Are you willing to gamble $100,000 K over hear-say? I wouldn't.

Nova is cheaper and has more attractive people in the city. I vote Nova.

I've seen a lot of negative things online about WVU, but i gave up both Nova and NYU for it! 100,000K is A LOT OF MONEY to pay for the same degree.

With that said, though, if you think you're going to be unhappy choosing a school based on money alone, and if you feel you really belong elsewhere, well then you're the only one that can make that decision. I wouldn't call NYU better than Nova though. I was impressed with both schools!

You heard bad things about WVU? I have only heard good things...although there is plenty of bad press regarding both NYU and Nova...I would say you made a good choice...

nova is defintely on par with nyu. NYU also has about 50 more dental students along with 100 more international students in ur class. I would choose nova over nyu.

Not to mention that 100,000 k is alot more to pay back when you take into consideration the interest you will be paying on it over many years, let alone the principle 100k.

rightangle,
go to whichever school you feel you will be the most comfortable. Also think of what you are looking for in a dental school. If you are looking to do research, NYU is one of the top research schools around. If the cost of NYU bothers you go to NOVA. Also consider where you want to practice right out of school. Going to a school where you intend to practice is very convenient at least at the start. Saving $100K but lackluster grades won't do you any good in the long run.

Price and comfort both are important. If you can even think that you will be fine at Nova, go for it, because with time, every school grows on you. Save money.
However, if you feel that you'll be in utter misery at Nova, go for the other option. Since you applied and went for the interview (and are still considering Nova), I think it's safe to say that you'll have a good time there.🙂

NYU and Nova have very similar reps. I would go with the CHEAPER one here! 😉

Isn't NYU like, super super hard? My vote's for Nova.

rightangle,

Its funny that you ask about NYU and NOVA, These are the 2 schools that I was accepted to, and had to make the same decision. I went with NOVA, because i have talked to alot of people about NYU and they weren't too keen on it. NYU has a class size of 230 students and NOVA has 120. NOVA is cheaper but i am doing a military scholarship so money really wasn't the issue. In my opinion NOVA will give me the better opportunity to succeed because i feel that in a smaller class it is less likely for students to "falls through the cracks"

Okay...how about this one...

Creighton vs. UF

(For me, a FL resident, it is a 75K difference over 4 yrs)

Thanks all!😉

If you want to live in Florida, stay there or do not give up your state residency while in school. Florida has funky boarding regulations.

what kinds of funky regulations??

Florida is just there to make things hard for everybody.😛

It is very hard and expensive for out of staters to get licensed in Florida

I thought that was only if you didn't go to school there (i.e. if you wanted to eventually move there and practice). I may be wrong though.

I agree with the rest, go where you feel will make you happy. If you need to go out there again refresh your memory on the schools and make a pros and cons list. Money is a factor, but it shouldn't be everything. If you're not happy where you are then you won't do as well as you'd like.

I am faced with the same decision.. NYU or UDM?

NYU is about 90K vs. UDM's 71K..

I am leaning/set on NYU since I see myself fitting better into the class (very diverse) and it's probably my only opportunity to live in NYC. T

I say go where you feel you'll be most comfortable, don't let money influence your decision.

Go to Nova. While I would love to live in New York City, I don't agree that NYU is a better school. Plus 100K is a bunch of money.
