Cheapest hotel around NYUCD?

I know there is a popular hostel called Gerswin around NYU, but I would like to have a room for myself. If you know any good but cheap one, plz let me know. Thanks

HOTEL 17... best deal in town

7 blocks away.....about 10-15 min easy walk over

99 $ a night

room is tiny I mean sardine can tiny...and bathroom is across the hall (pisser and shower) but who cares...u have a place to stay for 99$
Bed super comfortable - I slept like a baby

I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT

My travel route: From JFK

took the air train to the subway ( A-train )..on weekends they shuttle you from one of the airtrain stops.... about 30-40 min ride to Washington
square...then I walked over to Union square and then to hotel.

A little bit further away is it Herald Square Hotel, its about 99 a night as well. It looks super clean and the reviews on tripadvisor all look fairly positive
