Is checking answers on VR is reasonable, or should you aim for final answer in one run?

I've been following Sn2ed's schedule and am usually able to finish each passage in 6 min. Since I'm unsure on how many/the length of the passages on the real test, is it enough to check work?

I have scored 1-2 pts better since I started doing this and spend 1-2 min checking per passage

If you take 6-6:30 mins per passage, you will have at least 10 minutes to spare at the end of verbal. however, there are always those passages that take 8-8:30 mins and are just a total pain to read(at least for me). If you're doing 3 passages a day, I would calculate how many questions out of 40 you're doing and multiply that percent by 10 minutes and tack that on at the end to check your answers... so if you do 3 passages 6 questions each that's 18/40 = .45 * 10 mins ~ 5 mins extra to check your answers. This is assuming you actually finish your passages in 6-6:30.

Funny I never did that, probably why I bombed so many EK passages. Good luck!

While you may be finishing early now, that might not be the case on the test. Plenty of people use up that buffer without realizing it. Not to mention, the current MCAT has, on average, longer verbal passages. Hence, keep to the ~6-6.5 minute per passage time frame. Then, once you're done with all of the passages, if you have time, go back and check since it helps you. Don't immediately go over your answers unless you can do that within the initial 6-6.5 minute per passage mark.

so say I do 2 passages, I shouldn't check questions I mark unless I can keep the first run through and the checking under the 12-13 min total?

Yup. Try to get everything within that limit. Again, you may have a buffer now, but with test day nerves and longer verbal passages, that buffer usually goes away.
