Checking Status at U Mich?

Hey everyone,

I know U of Mich has an applicant status page, but how frequently do they update it? Has anyone tried calling to check on their app status? Will they tell you over the phone if you are not being considered for an interview, or will it say so on the internet status page?

I guess I am just getting antsy - been complete there since late Aug/ early Sept and haven't heard a thing. I wonder if it's better or worse at this point that I'm an in-stater.... Anyone have any info in regard to this question? 🙁

The status page will inform you if you recieve and interview. It did for me anyway. I found out on the status page about a week before I recieved the letter. If you do notice you have an interview on the status page, I would recommend calling to schedule it immediately. I waited for the letter and by the time it got there, some of the dates were already full. Good luck.

Hey Congrats on your acceptance to Miami though!!
That must make you feel good, esp considering that their recent classes have been comprised mostly of Florida residents (>95%), and you're from California!

Even though I'm sitting on an acceptance or two as well, I wish that everyone else would just hurry up and tell me already if I've been rejected. They must have some idea - why leave us hanging!

From the experience of my friends and I, the status page is updated about once a day. It is your best bet on finding out your current status. If for some unknown reason your app isn't complete, then it might be worth calling.

I think we have one of the nicest admissions offices in the country, but hey, that is the reason I came here 🙂

Mich was waiting for my MCAT scores in order to update my file. So far, however, it has't been updated since august. remember though, on the website, they state:

"The earliest you might expect to hear from us is November, although in most cases it takes several more months before a decision is made on the next phase of review."

So sit tight...not all hope is lost

for the longest time, my umich status page didn't change from "last updated 7/30/03". finally in early-mid sept i thought there was some kind of error and called the school...turns out they go through periodic "rounds" of applicants and the status page only changes when your application has gone through review.

but it all turned out ok in the end....🙂

oh, and do keep checking that status page, b/c that's how you get notified of the invite first - if you wait until the mail, it's likely some of the dates will be filled.

Where on the status page does it tell when it was last updated? Maybe I've overlooked that in the past. Also, congrats on your interview!! Hope everything went well!!

Nevermind, I figured out the date last updated thing. Mine was last updated 9/10/2003🙁 I'm guessing that's not a good thing. Oh well, c'est la vie!!

drindt, don't worry about the lag in updating. i think mine was frozen at 7/30/03 for ~ 3 weeks before it was finally changed to the interview date. and btw, being selected later for the interview doesn't mean you're necessarily a less competitive candidate. i was accepted there even though i wasn't one of the earlier interviews. so hang in there! 🙂

how come my stat us page doesn't show STATUS.

I mean, *I* can check or uncheck each of the boxes...
it's supposed to be telling me something, not asking me .

So, on your status page, there are several checked boxes, right? and teh ones that are checked are what they have?

but, then how come I can c heck or u ncheck the boxes...

Am i just being a real idiot?

I'm pretty sure it is just a site design problem. Whoever did the site shoudln't have made the checkboxes editable on the client side. ALthough it could be so that the adcom uses a similar site and they just copied the code for it, again laziness on the designers part.
