I like both chem and biochem, but i am trying to diced on which to specialize in. At this point the deciding factor would be money and or availability of jobs. If i don'[t get into med school, i was wondering which (chem or biochem) has more potential for jobs both with or outside of research and which pays better... i hope someone knows..

I'd do biochem... seems like more fun.

tryout job search functions, or go to your uni's career center/career day. Look at job descriptions, talk to people, and do all that jazz and I'm sure you'll be able to decide better. Hell, you could do business stuff afterwards if you wanted...I know a kid that got his mba right after finishing a chem degree and now works or Pfizer doing something with finances.

I think the range is a lot broader with a chem degree than with biochem. You would be really quite surprised to see where people with chemistry degrees/ phD end up

theres also a "clinical biochem" program which sounds really neat since its more medically oriented and theres a lab course where you actually do part of the course in a hospital... Anyways, has anyone heard of this field and what it offers in terms of pay and careers when compared to chem and biochem.. (its a realatively new prgram at my school).

Anything you could do with a chem degree you could also do with Biochem. Not exactly true the other way around, but the two are pretty equivalent in the real world.
