I guess I have no choice but to take this route but unfortunately freshmen just get screwed by my college's scheduling system. The infamous RU screw, has stopped me from taking chem 1 in my second semester. The reason why I did not initially take Chem1 in my first semester because I didn't want to double up on the sciences (aka Bio). So can anyone give me any advice or any share of experiences about how it was and the difficulty of recieving an A? Personally, I know I can manage time well between work, school, and my girlfriend. Also, i know this is probably dependent on the college, but can anybody give me a price quote on how much it is to take Chem 1 & 2 plus lab over the summer? Thanks a lot!

why don't you just push it to sophomore year? you can take orgo as a junior and won't be the worse for wear...

That last question is pretty dumb as it can vary WIDELY between schools. We're talking on the low end somewhere around $1,000 to on the high end $10,000+.

To answer your main question though, let me share my experience with chem over summer. I took chem 2 in an accelerated 6 week summer semester. It ended up being one of the hardest classes ever. I essentially devoted around 4-5 hrs a night studying for the class and ended up with a solid A. I basically didn't have much time for anything else for those 6 weeks though so I think working might be a challenge for you. Just know that summer is much faster pace than regular semesters and its easy to get behind. Good luck!

i second lovetherunner. i'm a junior who is in orgo right now and, if anything, i think that extra year gives you a slight advantage.

also, i did take chem 1 and 2 + lab over the summer. it was around $5,000, but in my opinion it was worth it, because i got to knock out a year of prereqs in just 7 weeks. i got an A without much effort, but i also did literally nothing else. i was in class from 9-4 most days, and had a midterm once a week. i studied around 2 hours a night, and 6 hours a day on the weekends, if that helps.
