Does chemistry education research count as significant research experience? I've been working with a professor in developing new undergraduate chemistry lab experiments to teach them about green chemistry and various techniques. I plan to publish as first author in a chemistry education journal.

It counts as an enrichment activity. Many of us also publish educational research. The MD/PhD AdComm will see the experience favorable, but could not replace a minimum of bench experience
