Hi all, I have 2 chemistry problems that I don't quite understand. Please help me.
For the reaction:
AgCl(s) + 2NH3 (aq) ---> Ag(NH3)2+ (aq) + Cl- (aq), the equilibrium constant K= 4x10^-3, which of the following statements is true?
(Ksp for AgCl is 1x10^-10)
a. the addition of NH3 decreases the solubility of AgCl
b. AgCl is more soluble in aqueous NH3 than in water
c. AgCl is more soluble in aqueous solution containing Cl- than in water.
d. AgCl is less soluble in aqueous NH3 than in water
I thought the answer is D since AgCl is insouble but the real answer is B. Can someone please explain to me?
The bond length is Cl2 is 1.99 A. The distance separating two adjacent carbon nuclei in diamond is 1.54 A. Based on these data, what is the length of the C-Cl bond in the compound CCl4?
a. 3.53
b. 2.53
c. 2.16
d. 1.76
e. 1.54
I didn't really know how to do this one. I added both number and got A but the real answer is D. Don't know how.
Thanks in advance.
