Whats the difference between atomic radius and just plain old size when dealing with charged atoms?

umm, i know that cations are smaller than anions, so anions have a bigger ionic radius than the cation.

Cl- > Cl > Cl+

there is no difference. the atomic radius just defines the distance between adjacent atoms...

therefore, atomic radius = theoretical size.

hope that makes sense.
