Hey ya'll, I'm a Louisiana Resident going to school in TX, and I was excepted to Chicago State's pharmacy school... Just wondering who is looking for housing in Chicago besides me, that may be out of state and looking for a roomy who is pretty down to earth, cooks (healthy), works out regular, and pretty much stays in his own room all day (quiet as well), (I am almost a neat freak, but not entirely).

I dont know anything about the city of Chicago, I plan to stay somewhere in the middle b/t Chi State and UIC and I hear they are only 20 minutes apart...

So if anyone has any good ideas about places I can go to look for good housing, or good apartments you may know of, or if your just looking for a roommate PLEASE REPLY!!

UIC and CSU are way more than 20 minutes apart. CSU is at about King Dr and 95th in Bronzeville. UIC west campus is at Wood St. and Polk in the Near West Side. It'll take quite a while. The UIC area is much, much safer than the area around CSU. Taking the CTA, it'll take over 40 minutes to go between the schools. The Dan Ryan is under construction. The expressways are always busy.

Yep, the UIC area is much safer than the CSU area (not that crime doesn't happen on the UIC campus). The UIC area used to be horrid until the city and university started gentrifying the community. All the projects were torn down and turned into condo's etc. Now, there are million dollar houses going up in that area as well.

Traffic is another beast to contend with. I drove to UIC everyday (I live about 6.5 miles from UIC); however, what should be a 10 minute trip down the highway usually ends up being 25-30 minutes due to traffic. Going from UIC to CSU, you can expect a double or even triple commute time during rush hours. So, a typical commute from my house to CSU (11ish miles) would be 20 minutes with zero traffic, but can be up to an hour in the morning and evening. Taking the bus would be even longer. Trains would be a better option.
