I'm not sure if questions like these belong here, but I thought that I'd give it a try. First of all, this question is just for my own interests and scholarly pursuits.

I noticed that the C1, C3, and C4 are all chiral. There are 8 different DNA isomers.

Is the handedness of DNA ever an issue in biochemical reactions?

C1 is always in the beta conformation. C3 and C4 must be the same configuration as DNA forms a right-handed helix.
