Some vendor at my work tried to tell me that when he worked as a massage therapist, he spoke with a chiropractor who told him that chiro school is harder than med/dent school and that it also takes 5 years. Is this as utterly incorrect as I think it is or what?

he probably just had a "subluxation" causing a lesion in his globus pallidus

And where did he go to dental, medical, AND chiro school to be able to make a valid comparison? And who cares anyway?

Well, all the people I know in chiropractic school right now are people who couldn't get in to medical/dental school. There are no real entrance requirements or exams, just take the same classes pre-dents and pre-meds take, get a C or better, cough up the money, and you're in. We all know chiropractic medicine is just a bunch of voo-doo anyway.

Being a chiropractor is way way way harder. They actually have to be good with their hands

Well, I may be one of the few people who has completed all of those degrees, but I can tell you without a doubt becoming an astronaut was a lot harder than any of them.
I actually have an MD friend who went to chiro school for a year before dropping out to go to med school. I've never asked him how the two compared - maybe I'll have a real answer in a few days. 😀

uh...don't dentists and doctors have to too?
or was there sarcasm that i missed? 😛
No Chiro schools that I know of are 5 years, they're all 4 years, so he was off-base on that remark.
The other portion of the remark is opinion (duh), but it's one that would be widely considered as an ignorant one.

well, I know for a fact that most chiropractic schools are 3 yrs, and I don't know any that are 5 yrs....my aunt is a chiropractor and she loves it and is glad that she made that decision....I also know that she didn't have a hard time in school, although she complained about a couple of classes being difficult...I think a lot of the first year or so is basic science just like med/dent, but as a definate I don't think anyone can tell you, b/c like someone already said, no one has done all three
The q3 overnight call during chiro school is tough!
The astronaut stuff was hard, but the SEAL training was way worse.12YearOldKid said:Well, I may be one of the few people who has completed all of those degrees, but I can tell you without a doubt becoming an astronaut was a lot harder than any of them.

I washed out. I was unable to balance the ball on my nose

One of my good friends is attending Palmer Chiropractic school in Iowa which is one of the best schools in the country. He is in his second year and says its hard but not to hard. All about time management. He said they do try to weed out a lot of students with all the classes becuase there is no entrance exams like the mcat or dat.
