So in Illinois at more than one place now I've seen ads for Chiropractors. They claim to be "pain" docs. But they are even more elusive since they use the title, "Chiropractic Physician". Another place I saw, "Physician of Chiropractory".

Is this false advertisement? Is this misleading the patient? Can anyone just say they are a 'pain physician' now?

Ridiculous...

Call the Illinois State Medical Board, ask them if it is a violation, and let us know!

Their number is: (312) 814- 4500

welcome to the real world. when you are out practicing you will find that almost every patient you see has "my" chiropractor--almost everyone! you may also be disappointed to find out that the general public often thinks of a D.C. FIRST when it comes to a neck or back pain, as their advertising and political lobbying over the years has yielded considerable fruit. Medicare covers their services better than yours, which you may not know either. all you can do is try to reinforce to your patients that nothing is "out" and make sure they see in their films that even though they have been to the chiropractor for six months, the spinal curvature is still there, and ask them what the "realigning" actually did.

Focus on the big picture.

We're all going down this summer.

i have seen adds with them saying Bill Bill DC, Pain Specialist

average person wont know DC is chiropractor. and no where in the add will it say chiropractor...but this was an add for some product, with this guys endorsment. but still is mis leading IMO

I'm in Illinois. Local chiros advertise under "Physicians" in yellow pages. Some use physcian figurehead to get it through. We also have a naturopath listed under physicians.

I also see things like "Chiropractic Orthopedics." (see orthochiro.com e.g.)There is also a chiro who's sign says "Pain Management and Rehabilitation Center." We also have a "Chiropractic Neurologist" in town who does needle EMG's. He's not completely horrible, but I've seen him miss some easy things like diabetic neuropathy and cubital tunnel syndrome.

A PA in our area is advertising himself as a physician and uses drXXX as his email. He has no doctoral degree of anykind. A chiropractor in the state is doing trigger point, prolotherapy, and bursa injections in the office of a physician...in this state that practice is legal. In fact we could hire a steel worker to do spine injections in this state as long as it is done in the office of a physician.

Even better...

At the radiologist-owned imaging centers, you can request you to have MRI read by a "Chiropractic Radiologist." Wow...scroll down to Tyrone Wei, DC, DACBR

huh??!?!?

will he point out the "subluxed" vertebras of L4-5. He can jam that back in "place", because he doesnt see the pars fracture that led to it...

cripes.

Medicare covers their services better than yours, which you may not know either.

And many Chiropractors think that that's not enough... some have joined class actions suits against various insurance companies claiming unfair reimbursement.
