Choice of Messenger Bag?

I'll be trying out the Timbuk2 bags and then probably order a Chrome Citizen and the L.L.Bean messenger bags, try them on for fit, and then keep the one that I like the best. I'll post my findings here.

I've actually got both chrome and timbuk2 bags. If you're planning on riding a bike - the chrome bag is a superior choice. The shoulder strap just makes it so much more comfortable with a heavy load. Bonus - you have three different ways to get the thing off.

If you aren't riding to and from - check out osprey bags. I've got one of their "transit bags" - which I would never actually ride a bike with - it's well made and quite comfortable. Probably the most function of any messenger style bag I've ever seen: laptop compartment, water bottle holder that fits a nalgene, easy access padded side. Also, it's zippered (water resistant) if you don't like the flap as much.

whoo, and some $$ too ... those bags can be spendy!
i like the chromes, especially for bike commuting (the waterproof ones) but can't quite justify the expense just yet.
