I don't know if this question has already been asked, but if you have already gone through your rotations, do you feel you had adequate choices when it comes to the location and spectrum of your experiences? Please include your school with your opinion. Thanks!

Yes, I feel I got a ton of choices at Midwestern CCP. I was exposed to various patient populations...inner city, yuppy suburbanites, and everything in between. Also a variety of locations...large university medical center (Rush), community hospital, VA hospital...etc...This also has to do with the fact that we are located near Chicago and there are a lot more hospitals in general. I suppose the choices wouldn't be as great in more of a rural area.

Yes,

Considering USC PharmD program has been in place since the 50's and 60's, the # of available rotations, network of pharmacists, and the structure of clerkships are unparalled...except for UCSF.. Sorry, screw the USN&WR pharmacy school ranking and how "research" and "grants" determine how great a pharmacy school is.

In my mind, the clinical rotations determine the quality of pharmacy school.

Bring on the hate posts...:meanie::meanie: but when it comes to clinical rotations, the rest of the country is still catching up to California standard..

The fact only 50% of out of state pharmacists passed the ole california board is a testament of the the quality of education in CA. Oh sure, people used to say.."CA schools gear their students for that exam..." Bingo!

:meanie::meanie::meanie:

btw, to the OP. Yes, I had great rotations. Cardiology, Psych, AmCare, Pharmacy Administration, Community, and International Research where I spent 5 weeks in Korea. Fun Fun!

And before some of y'all foam at the mouth and have violent seizures in response to my post, please do understand the quality of pharmacists aren't necessarily a product of school system.

The sharpest, brightest, and most experienced pharmacists I have worked with in my industry are mostly RPh/MBA who are non California product.👍

I got skunked on this attempted troll... 🙄

The purpose of rotations is to explore different areas of pharmacy practice so you can make a (hopefully) intelligent choice when looking for a job. I did a variety - insurance company, industry, VA clinic, IHS, rural community, poison control center, transplantation, ICU, etc. Rotations were fun... 🙂
