Hello, I am a CA resident, hoping to go to a CA school but have applied to out of state (WA, AZ, NC). Because ultimately I'd like to live in CA, going to an out of state school (I'll go where they take me) would require me to take the CJPE to be able to return. I'm trying to figure out how difficult this is-- (to apply/take/pass on your own)? Is it worth going to an new/unaccredited program (like Touro in Vallejo) for the ease of licensing at the end of school vs. going to an accredited program (smaller school on east coast)? Or is applying for/taking/passing the CJPE not a big deal.....(ie a pain, and obviously some work, but nothing that isn't doable and I should take the opportunity to go to an accredited school)?

I've been trying to research on the NAPB website (and on school websites) but not sure where else to look. Or post. 😉 Not sure if this is better off in the pharm licensing forum. (And I'm new to posting so don't know how to move it. 🙂)

This information will help me decide whether I should book plane/hotel/car to go out there to interview.

Thanks!

This is a really good question, I have been wondering the same thing. I wish I new the answer...

Check out the Board of Pharmacy website for California. It will probably answer your question.

I know in my state Florida, many other states do NOT have reciprocity agreements with us. So some people get licensed here, and in another state that does reciprocate at the same time, so that they have their bases covered.

And from a quick check of the licensing requirements of CA, you have to take the CPJE no matter what....so the school you go to shouldn't factor into it.

I found this online, and hopefully it will prove useful for you.
