Hey all, my school has like 12 different regional sites to choose from for rotations for 3rd year. In asking upperclassman about them, what questions should I be asking in order to best choose my site?

It's a little daunting making a decision that could affect my 3rd year grades and education haha

Least call, easiest hours, manageable patient load also you will be participating in the match in a year so you can also choose places u want to do residency.
Thanks, that certainly is a top priority!

Is there anything I should look for in concern of best educational experience - it's a hard question to ask upperclassman since their only exposure is that site and not the others.

You can ask if they feel they got enough out of the rotation. Speaking from my experience so far, only 1 out of 3 sites I would say was a great experience where I learned a lot. At least all 3 the hours have been relatively good tho

Generally it’s hard to get both, normally the chill rotations will be less educational. I’m doing rehab and normally ask what rotation is best for people not going into medicine but still work you. Small community hospitals are best because you see a lot of bread and butter stuff but nothing too complicated. Overall I normally pick the rotations that work you a lot because you will be doing yourself a disservice by choosing the chill rotation as a medical student. I find personally this is the time to learn a lot because you have no consequences of your mistakes. Then choose a chill Prelim year and go in with a solid baseline. This is only if your career won’t be involved with a lot of medical mgmt
