Hey guys out there,
Just had a question for those attending or with knowledge about COMP and CCOM. I'm deciding between them and wanted some advice. Which do you think has a better curriculum and national reputation?

Can anyone out there talk more about the day to day pros and cons of each school?

I loved them both. The students at COMP were awesome. The facilities at CCOM as well as the structured third and fourth years were impressive.

I don't know where to put my deposit. Any advice?

I have the same problem. I am though leaning towards CCOM due to the facilities and the structured curriculum. People there seemed to have been nicer. Also I have been living in L.A. for about 9 years now and maybe I should change things in my life.

Have you recieved anything from CCOM in mail? When I got the acceptance call, they told me that they would send me stuff in mail. It has been about 2 weeks, and I haven't recieved anything yet.

congratulations! i can only comment on comp since i've only been there for an interview...from what i saw, i could tell that i would be comfortable there and like i would fit in very well. the students and the faculty were very laid back and seemed like they had lives outside of school (i stayed with some med students and they were AWESOME!) the rotations are great. youll get a lot of exposure to different cultures and youll see what real world medicine is like. i loved it...good luck!

I would choose CCOM. Probably more affordable cost of living.

Hey dr.z,
I got the official acceptance letter with info a week after the call. It was wonderful. I would call them if I were you and ask them to resend it. )I think the first deposit deadline is somewhere around December 14th or 15th)
Please let me know if you learn anything else about these schools and what you decide.

Good Luck.

I'm sort of in the same boat, only between COMP (assuming I get an invite) and AZCOM. I think both are AWESOME, despite what some naysayers have to say on these boards.

I lived in L.A. before so that's the one thing that might put COMP over the edge. But I was SO impressed with AZCOM.

I interviewed at both places and I liked both places. The restructured 3rd and 4th years at COMP sound great and I like the fact that they have a person in financial aid who is dedicated to finding scholarships for students. On the other hand, CCOM had a nice campus and it seemed to be more suited to being an actual college rather than a commuter school like COMP. Also, the area around CCOM is a bit nicer than around COMP.

As far as cost of living is concerned, CCOM is probably cheaper, but you pay more in tuition.

Personally, I rely on my instincts (can I see myself at CCOM/COMP walking the campus, etc.). I think they are both great schools but you need to decide where you feel most comfortable since all schools have a similar curriculum/facilities/clinical sites, etc.

Good Luck!!
