So destroyer has a question that asks:
A somatic cell during interphase has been observed to have 10 chromosomes. How many chromatids is this?

a)5
b)10
c)20
d)40
e)15

Now the problem I'm having is that this could be before or after the S-phase in interphase. Before S-phase, the chromosomes are not duplicated so that #chromosome=#chromatids, but after the #chromosome= 1/2 # chromatids. Because I remember from cell bio that when the DNA is not duplicated, each strand on its own is a chromatid. Now correct me if I'm wrong. But if that's the case, wouldnt b and c both be right answers, depending on where in interphase we're talking about?

before synthesis would be 10 right? since there are no duplicates.

Also, interphase includes G1, S and G2 phases right? so how could you assume before or after S?
