Has anyone used this to learn how to tie knots etc. for their surgery/OB rotations?

Any other recommendations for DVDs that teach you how to tie knots/suture? Thanks!

$250.00 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They should teach you suturing at the start of your surgery rotation. That or youtube should suffice.

You really aren't expected to know anything going in, but if you are going to learn something, learn the basic two-handed tie. Shouldn't require any fancy dvd's, just google and an hour with a shoelace. Not only is this the knot they expect you to know, it is probably the only one they will allow you to throw during your rotation.

wow, that's a rip off.

During my surgery rotation, I had an intro with a pigs foot, a few trips to the sim lab but what really made it stick was a resident sitting down with me and making sure I had the motions down. After you have that all you really need is some string to practice the motions.

Some suture line, a needle driver and foreceps wouldn't hurt... I had a resident give these to me. You can get nurture line at the end of cases by asking the scrub techs (politely) if they have any extra suture that was opened (hence will no longer be sterile) that can't be reused. I'd hit ebay for the needledriver before buying a fancy kit. You don't need that fake skin stuff, just practice on a backpack, couch, whatever.
